10993132_566258043477194_8313347972581856273_oInsurance documents are critical documents in times of emergency. Therefore, prior preparation is essential to have these documents in order at the time they are needed. Let’s be prepared and get all the insurance documents together and develop a functional system to manage these most important documents:

First: As always, set your stage for the Transformational Session: Healthy beverage, relaxing music, candles (option but don’t forget to blow them out) or other olfactory stimulation, healthy snack if desired.

Next, gather all the insurance documents that you can find.

  • Home Insurance
  • Car
  • Health
  • Children’s
  • Life
  • Work Related Insurances

Categorized them by policy types:

  • Create a folder for each policy.
  • Audit all the policies to ensure that the information is still current and relevant.
  • Update information and beneficiaries
  • Check coverage amounts to ensure they are adequate
  • Update your agent information for each policy and write contact information and policy numbers on your agenda/calendar or put in your phone/computer.
  • Make two copies of these documents and put one in an alternate location such as with a family member and put one copy in your emergency kit that you take with you if you have to evacuate your home.
  • The original copies need to be kept in a large ziptop bag and stored in your safe or in a safety deposit box.
  • Call your agents and update information as soon as possible.

For your auto policy, you should have updated insurance cards in each vehicle you drive. Check your car now to ensure that you have the most current insurance card stored in a safe place. Update every six months.

Most insurance policies can be viewed on-line so check with your insurance company or agent if you prefer to use on-line services.
