Children’s paperwork: Your children need to learn how to manage their paperwork just like you. They can have a few file folders to keep their manuals, instructions, receipts and school papers in. A small bin designed for files that can be stored in your child’s room is useful for this purpose. Let them participate in organizing their documents while you are working on yours. When you have finished with the work, don’t forget to spend some time having fun with your child.
School papers:
Some school papers are important to keep. Memorable papers can be placed in a scrapbook for future memory keeping. It is a great idea to make a chronological scrapbook for each child’s school years. The precious mementos can be archived and cherished for years to come. This will be addressed later in the section regarding scrapbooks. You can file other papers in an accordion file that you establish for each child.
Your child’s art work can be used for a myriad of purposes. The most cherished work can look like professional work when put into the proper frame. The self-esteem building that this encourages is such a healthy byproduct. The same meaning can be given to relatives as gifts for Christmas and birthdays. These are one-of-a-kind gifts that will create such important memories for loved ones. Art work can be copied and used to make postcards, greeting cards and memorabilia that will capture your child’s art and imagination as well as make them feel very special. Some items can be used in scrap booking to create a very personal and memorable page.
Accordion files can be used to house art pieces that you intend to keep. Use a label maker to put your child’s name on the file and to label the years in the accordion section. Let your child choose the work that he or she would like to keep in there. This will keep these things safe but yet, keep you sane. This will also become another treasured keepsake that can be reviewed each year on your child’s birthday or during a special family celebration. Larger items can be photographed and archived in large photographs.
Other important paperwork can be kept in your file cabinet in a folder for your child. Items such as school records, class information and clubs and groups that they join can all be kept in case they are needed. Group and staple similar kinds of paperwork together to make it more manageable.
