Critical Documents

All critical documents need to go into either a fireproof /waterproof safe or a safe deposit box.  If you are using a safe at home, put all of these documents into plastic zippered storage bags.  Also, make copies of insurance documents, birth certificates, car titles, the title to your home and other valuable information to either send to a trusted relative or to keep in an emergency kit (this will be discussed later).  Organize these by categories as well and put them in the zippered storage bags.  You can color code the bags or use color coded files to put them in.  Or you can use colored nail polish to paint the seal of the bag to identify their use.

If you cannot find your birth certificates, Social Security Card or  other important documents, take the time to replace them now. You can look online for the local Social Security office near you to apply for a replacement card. Birth Certificates can be ordered from the state of birth from the Department of Vital Statistics for that state. When you need these documents, you will have them and inevitably, you will need them sooner or later.

If you are still working on sorting piles, then continue following the Transformational Organziational process to sort, categorize, file and store your documents.  Remember to keep this year’s tax documents in a separate storage element to complete taxes once you are through.

Here’s another suggestion: Once a month, assess your office supply needs such as paper, pencils, pens and especially stamps.  Sometimes bills arrive late due to the lack of stamps and no time to go to the post office.

Once week or so, you will need to make a trip to the post office to mail off packages, cards and bills, or something, so while you are there, pick up stamps for the month.

Don’t forget to drink your daily requirement of water (13 cups for men: 9 cups for women). Moreover, remember to take your vitamins and engage in your beauty routine for the day!
