A New Year, A New Beginning, A New Life

This site is dedicated to the Transformational Organization process, developed to manage one’s very complex life through daily organizational strategies. This process incorporates research on making sustainable changes  and applies it to a scaffolded system of incremental organization. The Transformational Organization system embraces a philosophy of enhancing one’s life through the practical use of items in a “use-it-or-lose-it” as a strategy for organizational success.  This strategy supports embedded economic principles to capitalize on one’s material or “item” investments. Simultaneously, the Transformational Organization system incorporates daily beauty and health routines to enhance one’s inner and outer beauty to comprehensively transform your life. Join me on this exciting journey and a new beginning that will bring peace, harmony and a greater sense of  joy and well-being into your life.

Thank you for visiting the Transformational Organization Site. I wish you peace, harmony and a fulfilling life.

Happy New Year 2016! Join the Transformational Organization Process to Transform Your Life!

Happy New Year and may 2016 be THE year that you take control of each aspect of your life. By following the Transformational Organization process, you can and will create peace, harmony and add creativity to your life. YOU will be able to spend more time doing what you love resulting in  more energy, enthusiasm, beauty and joy in your everyday living. We begin with Taming the Paperwork Jungle to enhance or rebuild your credit, take charge of your finances and develop a system to keep all the paperwork clutter in order.Simultaneously, the imbedded beauty and health routines will scaffold self-caring routines for a more beautiful, healthy and happy you. Next, we will begin systematically organizing your personal clothing and accessories to enhance your individual style and keep your wardrobe in ready-to-wear status to simplify the process of dressing and accessorizing your appearance.

The Thematic Organizing step will help you to organize all intricate sub-areas of your life in thematic categories. This will ensure that through simple, daily tasks your life becomes  easy to manage  reducing frustration and allowing you to capitalize on your possessions as resources to enhance your life.

Finally, we transition to the cleaning of your home in the Every-Nook-And-Cranny cleaning to a healthier and more efficient home. At the end of the Transformational Process, you will reap the rewards of the hard work and beauty routines in a truly transformed life. I promise!

Working Towards the Positive

One of the most important life-lessons that I have learned through the Transformational Organization process,  is to “Work Towards The Positive.” Prior to implementing the Transformational Organization strategies, I always felt overwhelmed and exhausted.  I kept wondering why I couldn’t seem to make more progress towards a more positive and productive outcome. After working through this process, I realized that my lack of taking charge of all the chaos drained my mental and physical energy. I began taking control through the small manageable tasks outlined in the monthly calendars. At the end of each day I felt that I had accomplished something positive. I also felt I had more control over my daily life. This inspired a new outlook and more energy. From this I learned that when I made positive advances in my objectives, I had more energy and enthusiasm to continue with taking control and ultimately living my authentic life. I have realized that the more I strive for the positive outcomes, the more opportunities  seem to appear and come to fruition. Although my house and life don’t always stay in perfect order (nor would I want them to), I can easily manage to get the chaos under control and quickly get my life “back to square.”

Then one day, I dreamed the impossible dream. I wanted to take complete control of our finances, something that I have struggled with for many years. I was never a huge spender and always considered myself thrifty. However, there never seemed to be enough money for the things I really wanted to do. I decided that the “money problems” were not about money but about the management of money instead. I started on a new facet of Transformational Organization which was to learn to become a better steward of my financial resources. I began by keeping a log of every cent, (yes, I mean cent) that I spent. Then the data generated from this log helped me to realized the management issues. After several months of learning how I spent my money, I began to realize that I needed a more firm structure in my money management framework.  I became a careful spender and a happy saver. I am still working through the learning, but I can say that taking charge of my own outcomes and working towards the positive seems to be profitable at this point. As stated earlier, more financial opportunities just seem to materialize when I am focused and striving for the positive. Money seems to appear out of nowhere at times and money that I have saved continually seems to multiply. I am quite amazed at the whole process and am even more encouraged to keep at it now that the positive has a greater influence on my life. Keep working through the Transformational Organization process and keep working towards the positive. This feels good.

How Your Processing Style Matters

Transformation Information Regarding Processing Styles

Sunburst_by_Aicosis[1]Information Processing Style

Each of us has a dominant way of processing information. You have either a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic approach to processing information.  Most, if not all, of us learn in a combination of these styles, however, one is primarily dominant in order to information to be processed and retained effectively. In education, these different processing styles are known as learning styles. The premise is this:  for a student to effectively learn, information must be presented in a format that meshes with the student’s learning or processing style.  This is important for our Transformational Organizational process as your processing style can be supported by effectively matching the format of how you receive this information; i.e. visual people read the text, auditory processors will listed to and audio file, while kinesthetic processors will enjoy the hands-on nature of the activities.  Another aspect to consider regarding learning styles, is how you decorate your home.  Auditory people will most likely need noise in order to process. Chaotic noise is counter productive  so most require soothing noises in their homes in order to stay focused.  I have a water garden adjacent to my desk while I write this blog so that the soothing sound helps to keep my mind focused on sharing this information with you.  Visual people will become distracted by visual clutter and therefore need visual serenity.  Color is also very important to visual learners.  Kinesthetic folks need to have movement in their homes and items that represent activity.  Texture and feel of the home is critical to a kinesthetic learners comfort level.

Here are some suggestions on how you can support your processing style during the Transformational Organizational process as well as add more comfort to your home and family.

Auditory Processors

If you are an auditory person, music is a great way to energize yourself.  Utilize your audio resources such as your MP3 player, phone, or Ipod to stilulate your auditory sense. If you still have some CD’s around the house, gather all that you can find and group them together.  Vintage Vinyl might be your preference.  For now, put all but a few of your favorites CDs or records  in a box for temporary storage.  We’ll get to them later.  The few that you selected as your favorites should go into a basket or box to take with you when you are working.  Select your favorite and listen to it during your first transformational task.  This accomplishes two goals.  You are using music to energize yourself while you are working as well as using the music that you have purchased.  Furthermore, your music tastes may have changed and this is a good way to revisit some of your music to decide whether you want to clean some of these out.

Visual Processors

Visual people may need to surround themselves with a serene environment with as few distractions as possible.  If organizational tasks are portable such as drawers or paperwork, create a space in your home that is relaxing and visually soothing so that you can focus more intently on the organizational process. Find a spot with adequate lighting and work where you feel most at peace. Of course, persons with visual processing dominance may also enjoy music so create your own Transformational atmosphere in which to work.  However, keep in mind that the visual clutter can diminish energy so create a calm and visually zen work space. You will later begin to create this atmosphere throughout your home.

Kinesthetic Processors

Kinesthetic people you are in luck as the Transformational Organizational process is inherently movement oriented and physically engaging.  The hands-on requirement in organization is just what you need to stay engaged.  Your issue will be not to try to tackle too much at one. Keep it focused on the daily activity and try not to overload yourself with more than you can handle in one daily session. It is particularly important for you to wear comfortable clothing. Kinesthetic folks need comfortable fabrics and less cumbersome clothing to continue to feel engaged and energized.

Nurture your Processing Style

When you are working on the process of organizing, cleaning and engaging in any of the Transformational Organization activities, nurture your processing style by providing the stimulation your brain needs. It will help you to remain focused and productive and will also enhance your contentment while working. Keep your processing style in mind as you redecorate or reorganize your living spaces. It is important for you to stimulate your brain through your processing style to increase your harmony and peace in your home and life.

Transforming Your Life

DSC_0031We all have busy lives. Are we too busy to enjoy our lives as we hurry through each day struggling to keep up with all of the activities, obligations, demands, lists, chores, responsibilities, telephone calls, doctor appointments, shopping trips, dry cleaning pick ups, dentist visits, children, cooking, cleaning, and laundry? You get the point. Many of us swim amass a sea of never ending chaos and debts of time that rob us of moments of peace, contentment, enjoyment and quiet bliss. We need time. We value time. But most of us suffer from a lack of time. Or do we? Perhaps, the real culprit is an ineffective structure of organization and life management. How do we structure our time? How can our time be spent effectively meeting the needs of our obligations and how can we eliminate time that we spend not enjoying our life and its precious moments that slip by us each and every day? The goal of the Transformational Organization series of scaffolded steps is to help you increase the time you spend truly living and enjoying your life.
The Element of Time
There are not many people who can devote endless amount of time to restructuring their lives. However, incremental daily changes can accumulate and have a huge impact on progressing toward goals and achievements. The Transformational Organization steps are designed to scaffold the process to maintain the important structure necessary for effective change while motivating and developing continued change. The strategies in this process are designed to help you organize your life into meaningful segments of to meet the areas of your responsibilities while increasing your fulfillment, enjoyment, tranquility, productivity, and harmony. These elements can be achieved in following the steps to restructuring your life without dedicating huge chunks of time. You will have the time. The Transformational Organization process is created based upon small sessions designed to fit into your already busy life. These small sessions provide the framework needed to completely transform your life, health, and happiness. Time and time again, you will see that the time it takes to change your life is time well spent. Keeping time with today’s active demands and busy lifestyles, the timing could not be more perfect. This is your moment to take charge of your life: your time. Time to get moving and start on a timely road to self improvement. Start the clock… time’s a wastin’.

Taking Control
During the Transformational Organizational process, think in minutes a day. How many can you spare to change your life? Minutes are given away each day as we casually discard them like pennies. Not significant enough to make any thing meaningful happen. But collectively, minutes, like pennies add up to “change”. Invest small amount of time daily to help increase your effective strategies for life management. In just a short period each day, we can accumulate enough “change” to make a significant deposit in your life. Your stress level will change. You will change and your life will change. Each day you will make an investment in yourself and ultimately, add more fulfillment to your life.
Let’s dedicate our time to work together and make significant modifications to your daily life and witness the face of change and the happiness achieved through taking control of our lives.

Transformational Organization: A New Beginning

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The most difficult part of implementing the strategies  is getting started.  When you lack experience organizing and modifying your life, it is rather intimidating.  Don’t despair.  The Transformational Organization process will keep you motivated, engaged and on a path to experience positive achievement. We will begin by organizing specific items to develop a pattern of success. Then we will move on to organizing and cleaning rooms. Then we will tackle  peripheral areas such as our cars, garages, attic spaces and others.   Just think, in the next 15 minutes, you will have taken the first step in changing your life for the better.  Take a deep breath, one more and now… begin.

Happy New Year!

The Transformational Organizational process was designed as a process that begins on the New Year. However, each section in the series can be a starting point to the Transformational Organizational process. Whichever method you choose, over the course of this year you are going to transform your life regardless of where you choose to begin the process.  The transformation will happen gradually and in layers, not all at once.  You and your home will go through a process of change that will result in a peaceful, more effective home climate and a happier, healthier, more beautiful you.

Changes in small increments are the changes that last.  Reflect back over the New Year’s resolutions that you have made in the past. You were enthusiastic and eager to get started.  Then you began to wane… then you gave up. Why?  You took on too much all at once and it was like diving into cold water.  Frigid water is a shock to your system and makes you feel overwhelmed very quickly.  The changes that you will make during the Transformational Organizational process are day by day and subtle but will build up to an overall transformational change in the end. Through the Transformational Organization process, you will in fact be successfully implementing every  past New Year’s resolution. Whether your past resolution was to take better care of yourself, lose weight, get organized, clear out clutter, or to enjoy more time with family, friends and engaging in activities that you love, you will successfully complete all of those in one process.  I will serve as your advocate and help you to  renovate your life step by step.  We will start small, and build on each day’s successes; a little at a time. However, this time our metaphorical water will be warmer and soothing to your spirit as you immerse yourself a little at a time into the new habits that you will begin to build.  The foundational construct in this process is incremental change in small, easy steps.

Getting to the Goal

The way to accomplish any goal is to break it down in a small set of tasks and accomplish them one at a time.  Today, we will begin together.  Step by step; day by day. At the end of this year, you will see the significant changes that you have made and the enormous differences in your life.  Motivation is the key. At first, we will use external motivation to help you to maintain your momentum. Then gradually, as you see your success and reap the benefits of your actions, the motivation will become intrinsic and more powerful.  Intrinsic motivation is the key to long lasting success in the dynamics of change.  In his book, Leading in a Culture of Change, Michael Fullan refers to the “constellation of Energy-Enthusiasm – and-Hopefullness. “  I am going to borrow that model in order to design a framework for change for you.  Leadership theory scholars recognize that in order for change to occur, you must begin by developing a vision of what you desire.  This is the most critical component in change.  You must develop your vision of an orderly, reduced-stress life and create an expectation of what you desire from this process.  As you go through the Transformational Organizational process, you will begin to define and refine your vision.  This vision is the hopefullness component in our constellation of success.  The energy will come as you get started and begin to see the results.  The enthusiasm will also develop as you enjoy your small successes that will eventually lead to your vision and the new life that you are creating for yourself.  Are you ready?

I am right here with you and energized and enthusiastic as well as hopeful as I know that you are going to be so very happy as a result of this process.

Caveats to remember as we go through this process…

Use It Or Lose It: Capitalize on Your Resouces

Your philosophies for this year are “Use it or lose it”  and “Capitalize on Your Resources.” You have purchased and collected all the things that you have for one purpose: to use it and enrich your life.  Perhaps some of the purchases were on impulse. Some you carefully considered.  In either case, you had some idea of how it could be used to make you happier. I know that material things by themselves, won’t make you happy. However, they can make you more satisfied and comfortable in your life.  In many cases, these things are purchased, put away, and eventually forgotten.  This is a waste of time, money and space. One of the most frequent comments that I hear from people is, “I have had that for so long and never used it.”  Other people explain that they just don’t know that to do with some of the things that they have purchased once they got them home.   This has resulted in overwhelming clutter, chaos, and hopelessness. I am here to help you with these issues.  Together we will create new uses for things that you already have and finally use some of those items that you collected for the purpose of enriching your life.  There will be some items that you will part with but through the Transformational Organizational process, you will feel comfortable with the parting process.

Hydration is Important

An important mandate in the Transformational Organization process is that before you begin any task or goal, make sure that you have a healthy, water-based  beverage ready.  According to the Mayo Clinic (2008), dehydration can cause symptoms of tiredness, weakness, dizziness and fatigue. When you are dehydrated, you lose energy and therefore, you won’t have the energy to accomplish our mission.  Throughout the Transformational Organizational process, you will need to stay hydrated.  Drinking more water is an important step in developing healthier habits and critical for the transformational process.  Quite simply, drinking plenty of water daily is one of the first steps to accomplish our organizational mission and of transforming your life.

To illustrate this caveat, the Associated Bodyworks and Massage Professionals (2007) stated, “One bit of advice you’ll hear over and over again is to drink plenty of water after a massage. Bodywork — no matter the particular modality — releases toxins, such as lactic acid and carbonic acid, which need to be flushed from the body.” While you are moving your body, your muscles release toxins and drinking water flushes out these toxins.  Applying this information to an everyday context, one would then infer that if you are moving about during daily tasks or exercising, you are using your muscles  causing them to release toxins.  Therefore, water is needed to flush out the toxins or you may feel fatigued and suffer from a lack of motivation.  You may not feel as though you are using your muscles, but you are indeed using them as you go about your routines.  In fact, a person who weighs 150 pounds burns up to 204 calories per hour working around the house attending to daily chores!

When you add some exercise during the Transformational Organization process, you will definitely need to drink water or a water-based beverage to cleanse your body.  Whatever you need to increase your fluid intake is a personal choice but refrain from anything that zaps your energy or ultimately results in your losing more water such as sugar, alcohol, and caffeine.  Filtered water on ice with a slice of lemon is refreshing.  Herbal tea is great for the colder months.  Sugarless, fruit-flavored water is a great way to increase your intake as it tastes delicious and adds essential vitamins.  Whatever your preference, make sure you have plenty available to drink during your Transformational Organizational activities and throughout your day.  Here’s a thought, utilize one of those lovely glass or crystal pitchers that are in the back of your kitchen cabinet. Add ice, beverage and pick a wonderful crystal goblet. Why not pamper yourself while you work?

Grab that pitcher and goblet and go to the next section called Health and Beauty Routines where you will incorporate health and beauty routines while you progress to enhance your inner and outer beauty.
