How Shocking! Organizing Media Devices and Accessories

Media Devices

Following the thematic organization procedure of selecting a different item each day, we are now going to tackle the many media devices and accessories.  Begin by collecting all the cords, cables, cameras,  external computer storage devices, software, extension cords, cellular phone accessories, tablets, chargers, mp3 players  and similar items.  Have one area dedicated to these electrical/technical related items.  You may need several different storage containers for all these items and you can group them into smaller categories.  For example, you may have one container for IPODs, or cell phones.  You many need another container for computer accessories such as mouse pads, speakers, and webcams.  You may need just one storage device for electrical attachments such as battery chargers and USB cords.

Note: when you are gathering electrical attachments, use a label of some sort to identify the cord.  I use a sticky blank address label or label from your handy label maker.  In some way identify what electrical device this cord or item belongs to.  This will help immensely when you are trying to find a specific cord.

You can use a vintage leather suitcase, storage ottoman, drawer, cabinet or other dedicated device  to house all of the electrical devices. I use a vintage suitcase for all my camera gear and a three drawer chest for cords and cables. A small chest houses my camera and tablet accessories and a wooden chest is used for all of my other electronic/technical items. Once all of these items are organized, you will be able to use them more efficiently reducing your frustration and increasing your access and usage of these valuable items. This method may even save you money by not having to purchase items because you cannot find them and consider them as lost.

Energy Vampires:

To reduce your energy consumption and costs, remember to unplug any charger or device when not in use. If the charger is connected to the wall and is not charging your device, it is still consuming electricity. Remember to unplug when not in use!

Remember your beauty routine and as an added bonus  go for a walk if the weather permits.
